Reconstruction

In Japanese art, broken pottery is fixed with a golden glue to both repair the cracks and enhance the beauty of the items. Similarly, as people go through life, we have experiences which break us and it is how we put ourselves back together that makes us unique and beautiful. This collection is inspired by this idea, with altered silhouettes in natural wool and silk satin fabrics and a fragmented print, demonstrating that from a place of brokenness, beauty can emerge.

My final year university project involved designing and creating six outfits from an original concept I developed.
